Montana Picture Gallery is the oldest photo studio in Montana, est. 1864 in Virginia City, Montana. The first owner was E.H. Train, a traveling photographer, who took portraits of Virginia City Gold Rush miners who were anxious to send their pictures back home to family.

The most recent Montana Picture Gallery Proprietor and longtime Montana resident, Allyson Adams, is a writer, professional photographer, and costume designer with a love for everything Western. Daughter of the academy award nominated actor Nick Adams, she started her career at the age of one and has been on the scene ever since. Having produced over thirty plays, a docu-drama, and even a book, The Rebel & The King, about her late father’s relationship with the famous King himself, Elvis Presley. With a broad scope of experience in all creative fields, this renaissance woman applies her knowledge to every piece of her family photoshoots. 


Having worked as a costume designer on numerous productions and western films such as Chief Tendoy, Four Winds, and Terror on the Prairie, and stylist for photographer David Yarrow, she creates authentic, artistic portraits that lift the sepia tradition to a new level.
